Spiewak named PRSSA National District Ambassador

Communication Studies senior Haley Spiewak has been named the Public Relations Student Society of America’s (PRSSA) district ambassador for the Mid-Atlantic District. This honor comes through an application that is reviewed by PRSSA national members, who select applicants for an interview, and then name the ambassadors after this selection and review process.

As district ambassador, Spiewak will serve as a liaison between various Chapter presidents and the National committee. She will make phone calls to multiple chapters across the country, attend events, and most importantly, help grow and strengthen various PRSSA chapters’ membership. Her district includes Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and greater east Pennsylvania.

Spiewak is excited about this opportunity. She knows that this position will be a high mark on her resume, and also encourage growth in her management and communication skills. During the 2021-2022 academic year, Spiewak is serving on campus as the President of the local SIU chapter of PRSSA, housed in the School of Communication Studies. This RSO is open to anyone in any major. “After switching majors and struggling to decide my future, joining PRSSA made me excited because I knew I picked the right field for myself. By also being elected as a District Ambassador, I cannot wait to see how not only our own SIU chapter grows, but how PRSSA as a whole can grow together, as well.”

PRSSA faculty advisor Justin Young remarked, “Haley has already proven herself a great leader within PRSSA, but this new title means she will continue to refine her skills while also taking the SIU and Communication Studies names to a more national level. We couldn’t be prouder.” The School of Communication Studies wishes Haley the very best as she takes on this new role.
